HMTA Teacher of the Year Nomination

April 13

Description and Purpose: This prestigious award is given to recognize a teacher whose talents and skills are apparent in the abilities and involvement of his/her students and in the service performed by this individual to HMTA.

Eligibility:

A candidate shall be:

1. A member of HMTA for three years or more.

2. A member whose students have been unusually outstanding.

3. A member who has shared his/her talents and time with the association.

Nomination due: March meeting

Procedure:

1. Nominations for HMTA Teacher of the Year must have been submitted in writing to the Award Chairperson at or before the March meeting.

2. The nomination must include a brief resume of the candidate in a form suitable for printing in the April bulletin.

3. Selection of the Teacher of the Year will be made by written ballot at the April meeting. The nominee receiving the most votes shall be elected.

4. If there has not been a teacher nominated by the membership, the chairman is responsible for discussing possible nominees with the president and/or at least three board members, who will form a “Teacher of the Year Nomination Committee.” The chairman must then present the names of nominees to the membership for a vote at the March meeting. If only one name is submitted, that nominee will receive the award.
