Soria Piano Studio

Spanish born pianist, Dr. Yanira Soria started playing piano at the age of five at Musicales Andiano Academy in Zaragoza. In 2001, her family moved to Houston where she attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
Dr. Soria received her Bachelor's Degree in solo piano from Sam Houston State University (SHSU) where she studied with Dr. Sergio Ruiz. During this time, she was the recipient of many awards including various Music Scholarships as well as the Phi Mu Alpha Outstanding Female Musicianship Award. While at SHSU, she toured China and Puerto Rico with the school's Symphony Orchestra performing Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F and Rachmaninoff's Theme on a Rhapsody of Paganini.
In 2010, after finishing her Bachelor's of Music, she received her Master's Degree in Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music at the University of Houston (UH) where she studied with Timothy Hester. She finished this degree in 2012, and has recently finished Doctorate in Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music there as well. Since her time at UH, she has been the recipient of the Albert Hirsch Scholarship and the Hirsch Scholarship Endowment Award.
Dr. Soria has an extensive repertoire in both solo piano and chamber music and has played concerts with many instrumentalists and singers. She has performed across the United States, China, Spain, Mexico, Czech Republic, Puerto Rico and Colombia as a soloist and chamber musician. She has also participated in many festivals including the Prague International Piano Masterclasses and, in 2012, was invited to represent Spain at the IV Encuentro Internacional de Música in Medellín, Colombia.
Dr. Soria has been teaching piano privately for ten years. During this time, she has worked with students of all ages and skill levels.
This piano studio is based in Midtown, and offers piano lessons in English and Spanish focusing on developing a well-rounded music education for students of all ages and level.
